Burn the Fat Feed the Muscle

How come when I do light weights it hurts my muscles more than when I do heavy weights?

When I lift light weights my muscles hurt more and it takes a longer amount of time to regain my muscles back than when I lift heavy weights. Shouldn’t Heavy weights make your muscles hurt more than light weights?? I do about the same set but different reps though.

It’s probably the reps that are making you hurt. Heavy weights are meant for you to gain a lot of muscle which means less reps. Light weights are more for toning which means you could do more reps. Also, the light weights could force you to actually do the exercise more correctly, thus aiming at the targeted muscle area more.

Depending on what your muscles are used to doing, they will get sore. Do low reps for a while, then switch to high reps for a while. The body will get used to it, so it is good for you to switch. You are also recruiting different muscle fibers lifting heavy or light. Lighter weight may allow you to go with a fuller range of motion putting more stretch on your muscle and like some else said allowing you to use proper form.
