BrainMind.com Brain Mind Lecture 6 Limbic System, Introductory Overview: Amygdala, Hypothalamus, Hippocampus, Hallucinations, Memory, Emotion, Sexuality, Amnesia, Flashbacks, PTSD, Brain Mind Lecture 6, Rhawn Joseph, Ph.D. BrainMind.com The video constitutes one of six Brain Mind Introductory Lectures, posted on youtube, each providing an introductory overview of the functional organization of the brain. To reduce confusion, all CT images have been reversed so damage on the left appears on the left, and right sided damage appear on the right. For a detailed presentation I recommend one of the best neuroscience texts of all time the 2nd edition of Neuropsychiatry, Neuropsychology, Clinical Neuroscience, by Rhawn Joseph, Ph.D. These are introductory lectures providing an overview of the functional organization of the brain. Dr. Rhawn Joseph has published major scientific discoveries in prestigious scientific journals and has published several highly acclaimed “best selling” advanced post-graduate textbooks. In the 1970s he proved/discovered 1) the role of early environmental influences on learning, memory, attention, and impulse control, 2) the role of sex hormones and the lack of sex hormones on sex differences in behavior, cognition, learning, memory, and spatial ability, 3) neurplasticity and recovery of function in the primate brain and is considered one of the founding fathers of the field of Developmental Neuropsychology. is this guy suggesting that homosexuals have a different brain like betweeen 28:46 and 30:00?? nice sir… so thereĀ“s a third sex.. good lecturer…

  • MaelMan82:

you think? based on any research or experimenting of your own I assume?

  • MaelMan82:

any part of your brain you dont use, atrophes just just any muscle… hence the reason you see old ppl doing crosswords.

  • abdula31:

whatever, this is so absurd that i won’t take time to explain even a little. Half of it might be true, the other half is ready for the bucket.

  • gerrylebeau:

Holy mother of Cher! I always knew that there’s a third sex ! this guy just said it… “male, female or homosexual”

    I loved this video

  • BarnHwk:

It seems that when you say “homosexual” you are only referring to male homosexuals. Not all homosexuals are males though. Lesbians are homosexuals too. So if it’s a lesbian we’re talking about, does she have the large connector-thingy between both the left and right amygdalas or is it more like a males? By the way you lump both genders together, by saying “homosexual,” you’re making it sound like they would.

Great stuff! I’ve studied the Amygdala for years and this is the most in-depth break-down of this subject. Great work! Thanks.

  • jfnuyen:

What a joke you have stated and a complete falsehood too. I see all ages doing crossword puzzles. You are just describing a stereotype applied to old people. You mean to tell me you never did cross word puzzles when you were young? (hence the reason you see old ppl doing crosswords.) LOL What a pile of crap you just put forth.

  • OldskolFan:

I hate animal sexual visuals–yuck! Could make a point about sex without going there? 4 F’s the last one stood for something else___. lol.

PTSD is an altered physiological state of existence that anyone/everyone can be put into. It is created to protect us, so why is it so stigmatized and difficult for doctors to treat? THe comorbidities are endless, but there are benefits to having your Amygdala as the new ‘Crown’ or chief of your mind. You do get extra-testosterone, extra-adrenaline, and are much quicker. THe benefits must be accepted and the frazzled visuals and uneasy feelings will dissipate with time.

Reboot the brain the fastest way: Watch the Youtube video “PTSD and Meditation”.
David George, Infantryman, US Army 101st Airborne Division, (combat missions, looking for WMD in Iraq) after suffering from post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) for over five years, learned Transcendental Meditation and is doing great.

there is a fourth F :p the lecturer just goes around it :D

  • kamikazeforchrist:

I would think, that through constant exposure with the mindset of this is who I am, or convincing lies is what I call it. What suicide folks undergo is convincing lies. The homosexual actual undergoes new growth in the brain through that constant stimulating thought. which could mean they have the female amygdala created, similar to addicts when they do drugs and grow neuron paths for there stimulus.

  • apraxia222:

love all these lectures way to go Joseph!!!!!!!! keep them coming

  • innergold1000:

This same information is what we use to treat sexual addiction issues. Unfortunately, a lot of the visuals that you use would trigger the addictive behaviors.
